Analogous to the ‘Exchange’ program with Chateau Elan, after aging Richland Rum for approximately three to four years, the contents of select casks are transferred temporarily to new barrels. The emptied casks are then used by the Terrapin Brewing Company in Athens, GA to age their “TiramisuHoo” Imperial Milk Stout for about one year. After the beer has been bottled, the barrels are returned to the Distillery in Richland, where the Rum they originally held is placed back into them. After approximately 18 months, and after having picked up notes of vanilla, chocolate, sweet milk, and nutmeg, the rum is considered mature and is bottled.
Velvet tiramisu surrounded by aromas of hops, tobacco and dark coffee caress the nose. The palate is complex and adds black walnut, raisins, dates, cashew, vanilla and even hits of curry. The long finish has ginger, fine leather, peat and creamy chocolate components.
